TOPIC: “Probate and COVID-19”
PRESENTER: Gary Clemens, Loudoun County Clerk of the Circuit Court
Loudoun County Clerk of the Circuit Court Gary M. Clemens will share information related to how his office accomplished the essential and statutory responsibility to probate wills in Loudoun County during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Clerk Clemens will also share examples of how many clerks of circuit court in Virginia temporarily modified business operations during COVID-19 and how some clerks will modify probate business operations in the future as a result of exploring new options as a result of implementing these new operational programs.
Additionally, Clerk Clemens will provide information related to how he modified numerous business practices to provide essential services while embracing safety protocols to keep his employees and clients safe during the pandemic.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
The Honorable Gary M. Clemens has served as Clerk of the Circuit Court for Loudoun County since January 2000.
As the Clerk of the Circuit Court, Mr. Clemens serves as the recorder of deeds and probate judge, issues marriage licenses and is the official court administrator for all civil and criminal court cases. In this latter capacity, the Clerk creates and maintains all court files and records, prepares court orders and jury lists, contacts jurors and issues summons and court processes.
